I have been practicing yoga for years (I fell in love with the practice so much I even started teaching it) but despite my efforts, I was still not at the physical level I wanted to be. Splits were still just a dream and my backbends were far away from being comfortable.

Unfortunately lots of yoga positions promote passive flexibility which means you have very little actual control of your body in those deep stretches. This is not very useful (apart from taking a cool Instagram shot) and can be lead to injuries.

I was using my yoga practice to get closer to my physical goals (even though I should have known better as a Yoga Teacher!). For such a long time I thought that I should just "stick to the practice" and eventually I'll see results (even though nothing was changing for months).

Things changed for me when I got fed up enough with the lack of my progress and started to look for other ways to gain the level of flexibility I was after. 

And that's when I discovered the magic of mobility, active & dynamic stretching and loaded stretching. I have to thank my coaches for letting me in on this secret of theirs. After I implemented these techniques and were given a structured plan to follow (so important!), I got my splits in 3 months (no joke!).

Most of us think that stretching means that you just literally stretch the tissue, the muscle itself, and that's it. Well, that's not really true.
